orrento Golf Club was established in 1907 on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, beginning as the Sorrento and Portsea Golf Club before adopting its current name in 1909. The original nine-hole course opened in 1908, with the club progressively developing into the 18-hole coastal course seen today. Its long history includes significant course improvements under Peter Thomson and Mike Wolveridge from the early 1970s.
Set across undulating coastal terrain, Sorrento combines strategic golf with a distinctive landscape of mature trees, native vegetation and coastal influences. The course is characterised by varied terrain, strategic bunkering and views across the surrounding Mornington Peninsula landscape.
GolfScape is supporting Sorrento Golf Club’s horticultural team with ongoing vegetation and landscape expertise, providing guidance for course works and helping the team make informed decisions as projects are planned and implemented. Our role is focused on practical, site-specific support that helps improve the efficiency of vegetation works while maintaining course presentation, playability and the long-term character of the landscape.
